Avoid travel sickness
Simon Bandy, General Manager at supplement company Veganicity, offers some simple tips for avoiding holiday health horrors:
Travel sickness
Feeling poorly from travelling before you even land at your holiday destination won’t get your holiday off to a great start. Ginger is well-known for relieving nausea and can help to settle the stomach. Veganicity’s Ginger Tincture (£5.95) is available in a travel-handy 50ml bottle and can be added to water and sipped throughout the journey. If you prefer, it is also available in tablet form – Ginger Root 550mg (£6.75 for 60 tablets).
Steer clear of tummy problems
Many stomach upsets abroad are often down to different bacteria that our bodies aren’t used to. To avoid tummy troubles, drink bottled water, always wash your hands and try to ice cubes in drinks. Taking a probiotic such as Veganicity’s Megadophilus (£7.95 for 60 capsules) for a month before departure, during and after your holiday, can help to protect your digestive system.
Deter the bugs
Bugs hate the smell of vitamin B in our blood so eating foods rich in Vitamin B such as Marmite can help deter them. If you’re not a fan of Marmite, take a vitamin B supplement such as Veganicity’s B25 Complex (£4.95 for 60 tablets). Garlic is another great bug deterrent so eat as much as you can or rub whole cloves on your feet (the odour travels into your blood stream quickly this way). If you’re concerned about the smell, try the de-odourised Veganicity Premier Garlic (£6.75 for 60 capsules) which still has the same effect on bugs.
Sun safety
Protecting your skin in the sun is very important so always invest in good sun cream with a high SPF and stay out of the sun at peak times. Apply the sun cream frequently throughout the day and always use an after sun. Veganicity’s Tyro Tan (£8.45 for 60 tablets) contains Tyrosine, an amino acid that helps protect skin health, helping to give a healthy golden tan without too much sun exposure.
