Car Engine Needs to be Repaired
Three Symptoms that Tell Your Car Engine Needs to be Repaired
The engine is known to be the heart of the car. It is designed in such a way that it picks up speed as soon as you accelerate and start driving at high speed. But, your car’s engine won’t perform as you have always expected from it. It won’t last as long as you want it to, engine suffers from wear and tear. If you don’t meet the needs of the engine, like proper maintenance and oil change, you can end up seizing and bringing your engine at risk, which might result in accidents and even makes you stuck in the middle of the road. But, you can prevent it by having a little knowledge about the signs of engine failure and knowing when your engine needs to be repaired.
White Exhaust Smoke
When gasoline gets mixed with the engine oil and is exposed to combustion, it burns an exhaust gas that is white. However, this generally does not happen under normal conditions. Both Gasoline and oil are supposed to have their own path. If, in any case, you experience white smoke, the most probable reason can be that the piston ring seals might have worn out making a path for the oil to drip to the cylinders. If the engine oil burns there might be a problem with lubrication inside the engine, that can cause severe damage to your vehicle. To avoid and escape from such problems, it is recommended that you take your vehicle to good mechanic get the problem diagnosed and get it repaired.
Clunking Sound Under the Hood
The engine is designed in such a way that it should never make a knocking, banging or clunking sound. Instead it should run smoothly. For the people who are not aware of the problem, the most common reason for this noise might be the wearing out of the engine bearings where the moving parts of the engine are supposed to rest. IF these bearing does not receive the right amount of oil and at regular intervals, the situation may go worse and seize the engine.
Metal in the Oil
When you take your vehicle for regular maintenance, and you ask your mechanic to look into the faulty areas, and what needs to be replaced, the first thing that he focusses on is the engine oil. Most of the mechanics say that the engine oil should be replaced once in every sixty days for the proper functioning of the engine. When the mechanic change the oil always look at the oil that is removed. If you find any type of metal flakes or shavings floating in the oil, it is time to pay little attention as the there might be some kind of metal contact in the engine. If this is the case where the metal pieces are circulating inside the oil, the oil might not find it easy to distribute properly to all the other parts, thereby making them wear out soon.
If you find any of these symptoms, there might be a possibility of engine failure. It is always better to bring your car to a mechanic and let him diagnose the problem and then repair it.
