Morris & Spottiswood embarks on “ambitious” expansion strategy following turnover growth

Fit-out contractor Morris & Spottiswood unlocked growth in the last financial year after seeing its turnover surge by £14m.

The Warrington firm’s takings rose from £74m in 2014 to £88m in 2015, while its workforce grew from 329 to 375 employees.

The North of England remained Morris & Spottiswood’s strongest region for sales growth, with sales leaping from £10m in 2012 to £44m last year.

Jon Dunwell, who has been promoted to the post of UK group managing director, revealed that the company has now embarked on an expansion strategy to take on 60 new recruits at its Leeds office and target new maintenance, facilities management and technical services contracts.

Further, the Leeds office will serve as a base for the company’s push into the North East.

Jon said: “We have experienced considerable growth in the last two years, driving turnover from £69.4m in 2013.

“This has been achieved by focussing on core sectors and untapped markets across North West, North East and southern England together with the expansion of the M&E business.”

He continued: “We are actively looking to recruit more experienced construction industry professionals in 2016 in full-time and subcontractor roles, to support our ambitious growth plans. We currently have 11 vacancies from our Warrington, Edinburgh and Glasgow offices including builders, joiners, painters, supervisors, estimators and administration positions.”

In October last year, Morris & Spottiswood revealed plans to invest £1m in a new fleet of vans.
