B&M Bargains and Poundworld get set for Strood.
Two new discount retailers are getting ready to enter Strood Retail Park joining Poundland and Matalan.
Following our previous story a few months ago regarding the demolition of Unit B which used to be home to B&Q. A new tenant for the property has been confirmed as B&M Bargains. We got exclusively in contact with one of the managing agents which are looking after the leases for Strood Retail Park who confirmed that lease had been finalised for B&M Bargains. The retailer already have plans for a new store in Gravesend High Street in the unit M&S used to occupy. They also have a store on the Isle of Sheppey retail development. B&M Bargains is expected to open in early 2017, rather than the original expected date of 2016.
Another store entering Strood Retail Park is Poundworld. With a store already in Chatham High Street, the poundshop chain are opening up shop in the vacant unit which used to belong to Brantano Footwear. The footwear store closed earlier in the year following an administration process taking place. It is not yet known when the Poundworld store will be opening as we have been unable to reach the chain for a comment.
This follows news that Savers, owned by Superdrug, will be opening on Strood High Street. It is expected the store will be open later in 2016.
