Retailers free to attend UK’s largest payments event

Senior managers at Waitrose, Papa Johns and The Entertainer will all be sharing revealing insights into how they view the latest developments in payments when they speak at PayExpo Europe. The UK’s largest payments event, taking place on the 7 and 8 June at London’s ExCeL, will provide retailers with valuable information and ideas from pioneering retailers and leading e-tailers on new transaction technology and security as well as advances in the analytics and loyalty sector.

Expert speakers from leading merchants at the comprehensive two day conference will examine key trends. Matt Clifton, Head of Retail Change at Waitrose, leads a session on ‘The part payment innovation is playing in driving customer experience’. Explaining why and how merchants should involve consumers in their CSR, Kevin Morris, Senior Partner, Head of Operations at Medivet and Andrew Gallagher, Senior Director-Marketing at Papa Johns, will contribute to a panel discussion on brand loyalty, ethos and engagement. Exploring corporate altruism further, Andrew will present a case study titled ‘Our journey in providing digital giving for our customers’. Providing practical advice on improving employee engagement and productivity, Jason Downes, Managing Director at Powwownow, will explain motivation in the digital work space.

Senior representatives from the Payments Consultancy LTD and the UK Card Association will discuss the future of retail transaction technology in ‘Where next for Retail Payments?’ UK-based payments processor, Worldpay will examine the future landscape in its discussion, ‘Changing the retail journey’.

The event includes multiple conference streams specifically designed for retailers. The Connected Commerce forum looks at the merchant experience in an omni-channel environment, including the latest technology available for frictionless payments, be it in-store, on a campus and the wider goal of creating cashless societies.

Analytics, Loyalty and Localization will provide analysis on customer retention strategies through predictive commerce and personalised marketing. Optimised consumer data, including social networks, will examine how bespoke and localised payments are essential strategies for competitive advantage. Additional strands include a spotlight session on global payments regulation and expert analysis of prepaid in niche markets. A number of domestic case studies, in partnership with the IMA, will explore the next steps for loyalty and gifting.

New features launching this year include The Merchant Payments Experience. In this dedicated area, retailers can preview the store of the future and discover how beacon technology can be integrated and monetised. Additionally, The Wearables Zone, sponsored by Digiseq, will reveal how watches, rings and clothing can all be enabled to make payments.

The renowned conference and exhibition offers retailers unparalleled insight into the innovations driving the payments industry as visitors.

Fran Pillar, Business Analysis Manager at Harrods, a previous visitor said: “PayExpo gives you a good general understanding of the payments industry as it allows you to see how all the pieces of the puzzle fit together. It is particularly useful if you do not have a background in payments.”

Louise Harper, Product Manager at B&Q, added: “I found it useful in developing knowledge in innovation for the retail store of the future. It is key in understanding what we should do versus what we can do. It has been helpful in gaining insight to what’s going on, rather than playing catch up to what competitors are doing.”

A wide ranging exhibition will showcase the latest payments technologies from leading industry suppliers including: Amazon, allpay Card Services, The Bancorp, Worldpay, FIS, Tieto, Currency Cloud, Web Shield, Carta Worldwide and Compass Plus.
