Caulmert shortlisted for top construction award

A North Wales-based engineering, environmental and planning consultancy has been shortlisted for a prestigious national construction award.

Caulmert, which has offices in St Asaph and Bangor, is in the running for the SME of the Year (1-50 employees category) at the Constructing Excellence in Wales (CEW) awards.

The employee-owned consultancy has experienced a period of rapid growth following a number of contract wins which include the new £9m Holyhead Primary School, Deeside-based Edge Transport’s relocation to a new £2.4m transport hub, the £14m prestigious Menai Science Parc, and for TGI Fridays’ flagship Leicester Square restaurant in the West End of London.

The CEW awards, in their tenth year, recognise the best of the construction industry in Wales and highlight the quality of all infrastructure that benefits the country.

Caulmert will be alongside two other companies in with the chance of being crowned SME of the Year (1-50 employees category).

Director Mike Caulfield said: “We’re thrilled to be shortlisted for this award, and it highlights what an amazing team we have.

“The application form asked us to focus on the people, and looking after our staff is a key part of our company ethos. We know competition for this award was fierce with more than 100 entries, so it’s a fantastic achievement for everyone at Caulmert.

“The awards ceremony is one of the biggest events of the year for our industry, and we have our fingers crossed already.”

The CEW awards will be held on Friday 15 July at Celtic Manor, Newport.

Founded in 2009, Caulmert is on track to meet an ambitious 15-year growth plan that would see it employ 250 people by 2024.

Its expertise in a variety of planning, environmental and engineering disciplines is supported by its use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) to a level 2 standard in many of its projects.
