New Everton FC stadium: What do the fans have to say?
Everton FC set the internet ablaze earlier this month after scrapping their plans for a new stadium at Walton Hall Park.
The Blues have now reportedly highlighted two brownfield sites as potential alternatives to Goodison Park for the new home of the Toffees, but what do the fans have to say about it all?
Here, we’ve collected some of the more colourful responses from Blues supporters on Twitter.
The Pessimists
Twitter user @Toffee_EFC coped with the news with biting sarcasm.
@ByDCarlin, meanwhile, was fuming at the prospect of having to travel into the city centre to watch the Blues play.
Stoic tweeter @Nick4P tried his absolute best to stay positive. That’s the spirit, mate!
@JDavies1878 had little faith in Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson, who has said that Everton could be playing in the new ground by 2019.
The Optimists
@Official_Pid just seemed made up to see so much going on at the club.
Twitter user @victoriacarlin_ was looking forward to the big changes on the horizon.
@premierefc1878 wanted club bosses to look to get some inspiration from Celtic, who are in the process of installing a safe-standing area at Celtic Park in Glasgow.
@mulvey1980 reckons Roberto Martinez’ replacement will have it easy.
Staunch Evertonian @SomeEvertonFan was confident a waterfront stadium would make Liverpool’s Main Stand development seem about as newsworthy as your DIY-loving uncle’s botched garage extension.
@gonzo1980uk decided to offer some sober commentary on the possibility of Everton’s new stadium being built along Regent Road.
The Lampooners
@Bluenose69, meanwhile, took the opportunity to have a light dig at Everton’s current CEO Robert Elstone.
@pabs_76 viewed the possibility of a new stadium on the waterfront with a conspiratorial eye. Illuminati? Definitely.
