On-demand delivery startup Jinn makes first steps abroad with new Spanish office

London on-demand posterchild Jinn has announced it is to open a new Madrid office, the firm’s first outside of the UK.

The online platform and mobile app which allows users to order ‘anything they wish’, as per the genie-inspired name, has already lined up grocer Fresh & Easy, Zafferano and restaurant brand Horno de Juan as partners for its first Spanish office.

Londoners will likely recognise the blue-liveried Jinn couriers who shop and deliver from over 500 stores and restaurants which are currently available on the platform, providing consumers with 24/7 access to a range of different products and produce.

Users are able to track couriers on the tech firm’s app and the startup has attempted to differentiate itself from competitors including Deliveroo and Quiqup by eschewing delivery radius limitations.

Mario Navarro, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Jinn, commented: “Madrid has an incredibly vibrant retail and restaurant scene, making it a natural first choice for Jinn’s international expansion. We are excited to be offering the service that can deliver almost anything you wish to residents doorsteps.”

The tech startup, who are currently available in four UK cities, recently completed a $7.5m (approx. £5.7m) Series A funding round, led by Samaipata Ventures and drawing further cash from STE Capital, Elderstreet, Bull Partners and its angel investors.

Jinn has also announced that it is planning a Series B investment round towards the end of the year to fuel its global expansion.
