York’s Local Plan: Residents and businesses encouraged to have their say
Residents, businesses, developers and landowners are being encouraged to join York City Council in having their say on the Local Plan sites consultation.
York’s Local Plan will support the city’s economic growth, protect York’s green belt, address the shortage of housing and help shape future development and employment in York over the next 15 years and beyond.
The eight-week consultation runs from Monday 18 July until 5pm on Monday 12 September on the Local Plan Preferred Sites document, which outlines revised figures for housing, employment and sites.
Cllr David Carr, Leader of City of York Council of City of York Council, said: “We’ve provided many ways for people to have their say during the consultation and we encourage everyone to get involved.
“This new draft Local Plan sets out an important growth strategy for York which will determine the amount and location of new homes and jobs for the next two decades and beyond.”
Cllr Keith Aspden, Deputy Leader of City of York Council, added: “Our proposals seek to deliver the housing York needs but protect the character and setting of the city. We now want local residents and businesses to have their say and our consultation provides a host of ways to do this.
“As well as public exhibitions we are sending information to every household in York which will outline in detail the next steps between now and submission to Government next year.”
