Investment in Hull care home

A Hull care home has introduced a new manager following significant investment and refurbishment.

Longhill House, based in Coldstream Close, welcomed Stephen Fenwick to his role as manager of the residential care home, which specialises in care for older people and people with dementia.

Stephen, 59 and from Hull, brings almost two decades of care industry experience to his role, and is looking forward to building links between Longhill House, operated by Hica Group, and the local community.

Stephen said: “Longhill House is a fantastic home with brilliant staff, so I was thrilled to be offered the role as manager.

“I am looking forward to putting my stamp on the home and offering staff the opportunity to develop our good standards whilst constantly improving and moving with modern practices to provide the highest quality of care for residents.

“I like to coach and encourage my colleagues. A positive and nurturing working environment encourages staff to go the extra mile in their work. This, in turn, supports Hica Group’s Shine initiative, promoting kindness and compassion as well as a happy and healthy environment for residents, which is our main priority.”

Longhill House recently received a significant investment to refurbish the home, providing high quality surroundings for the residents.

Penni Brown, chief executive at Hica Group said: “We are delighted to welcome someone with so much passion and dedication to care, as well as valuable experience and skills. This is an exciting time for Longhill House, as we have invested heavily in the home as well as restructure within the management team.

“Stephen has already made a positive impact with residents and staff, and we look forward to further strengthening the team with a deputy manager to assist Stephen with all of his fantastic new ideas and approach to providing high quality living at Longhill House.”

Longhill House is a 41 bed residential home for older people and those with dementia. As well as single rooms with en suite facilities, the home also offers large double rooms to accommodate couples who wish to stay together whilst receiving 24 hour care. Residents can enjoy three spacious lounges, a large dining room and the generous garden areas where residents grow plants and vegetables.

The Hica Group is a not for profit organisation, which operates a portfolio of 20 residential care homes, five of which are for people with a learning disability, along with two retirement villages. The company also runs a home care service providing approximately 11,500 hours of support and care from four regional offices in the North of England.
