Standard Wool’s charity golf day raises £1,300 for the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice
Bradford-based Standard Wool raised £1,300 at its 10th annual golf day thanks to the generosity of the company’s suppliers, customers and advisors.
The money donated will be given to local charity the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice who provide vital support to children with a life limiting or life threatening condition and their families, across Kirklees and West Yorkshire.
Held in early August at the picturesque Cleckheaton Golf Club, golfers exchanged a donation for a tee shot. On the par 3 fifth hole, players could opt to let Yorkshire’s Junior Golf Champion Megan Clark take their shot in exchange for a charitable fee. Given the hole’s difficulty, it was an offer too good to refuse for many of the golfers!
Managing Director of Standard Wool, Paul Hughers Snr, said: “As a prominent business in West Yorkshire, it is important for us to show our support to local charities like the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice. I would like to say a special thank you to Jo Andrews for her encouragement and unrelenting enthusiasm for raising the money, not only on Friday, but in the last few years.”
The Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice gives time and attention to siblings, and supports families through bereavement counselling, whilst giving general emotional support while parents are caring for their children.
With over 1300 children and families who could benefit from the care of the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice across West Yorkshire, the charity are only at the start of their journey. As a result, £3.8 million needs to be raised each year to continue the support and care that is currently provided.
