Plant hire firm GGR Group expands Oldham operations with 5,704 sq ft extra workspace
Lifting products and services firm GGR Group has created a new training and storage facility at its plant in Oldham.
The company called on Skipton-based building firm Sutcliffe Construction to deliver a 5,704 sq ft extension at its Broadway Business Park premises.
Sutcliffe’s work on the eight-week project included the fabrication of the steel frame, cladding and canopy trim to match the rest of the site. Limitations on crane usage and restricted heights due to nearby power lines saw the construction company carefully plan and execute the expansion.
Oldham architect John Barnes and engineering firm Bridgewater Engineers were also involved in the project.
GGR Group chief exec Graeme Riley said: “As our business has grown, so has the demand for extra workspace and storage.
“We didn’t want to incur unnecessary costs and disruption to the business by relocating, so that’s why we decided to create extra facilities on-site.”
He added: “We are delighted with our new, purpose-built unit which not only blends in well with our main building, but has also allowed us to create a larger outdoor work space and extra parking for staff and visitors.”
Sutcliffe MD James Sutcliffe commented: “The project with GGR at its HQ is our first with the group and it has had a positive impact on the smooth running of what is an expanding company.
“The build was challenging since the extension utilised a tight space and teams had to take account of major power cables overhead and not disrupt operations on-site.”
He continued: “The result is a much more effective use of the GGR site and a great demonstration of Sutcliffe’s commitment to building smart and adding value at every stage for the client.”
