The Body Shop chooses Leeds as first UK city to open new concept store

The Body Shop’s Leeds Briggate store will reopen for business this weekend, following a major refurbishment which is the first of its kind in the UK.

Owned by global cosmetics giant L’Oreal, the British ethical beauty retailer has invested in Leeds for its first new concept store transformation in the country.

Reopening on Saturday 5th November, The Body Shop Briggate will feature a Beauty Workshop room where make-up application tutorials and the ‘skin gym’ will be hosted, a bespoke Body Butter Bar and enhanced make-up area.

The store will also work with local community groups and artists to communicate key global campaigns and enrich locality networks.

The Body Shop is one of several major UK retailers choosing Leeds as a key location for shoppers outside of the capital.

Following the launch of Victoria Gate last month and increased footfall in and around Briggate, The Body Shop is looking to reach new customers and visitors.

Simon Coble, The Body Shop managing director, said: “The re-investment in our Leeds Briggate store reflects the opportunity that Leeds represents as a great shopping city.

“We have a strong fan base in Leeds and we’re pleased to be able to reward their loyalty with an exciting concept store that is truly not like any other The Body Shop store in the UK.

“The store will also be much more than just somewhere to seek skincare and makeup advice and purchase your favourite The Body Shop products – we hope to make it a hub of the community where beauty and activism collide to enrich the local area. We have just launched a partnership with volunteering platform Neighbourly to support 10 fantastic projects in Leeds.

“The Volunteering Week will take place during 12th – 18th November, customers and the local community can sign up to volunteer and support these projects.”

Sophie Oliver, store manager at The Body Shop Leeds Briggate, added: “We are thrilled to be welcoming customers into our brand new look store just in time for Christmas!

“With a Beauty Workshop room, Personalised Body Butter station and the chance to make a real difference via our ‘Wild About’ Christmas gifts that give back to the rainforests, we’re looking forward to delighting our Leeds shoppers this festive season and working closely to support our lovely local community into the future.”
