Modular Building Is More Efficient For Your Business
For any business, the possibility of physical expansion with more office and work space is an exciting time.
But it is also expensive, from the procurement and contract stage right through to building completion.
Modular building offers a more cost-effective alternative without long delays and disruption. MTX Contracts, specialist in modular buildings, explain everything about this style of building and why it is the better building solution for your business.
What are modular buildings?
Modular buildings are not draughty, flimsy cabins akin to a static caravan. Modular buildings are hugely flexible and versatile, offer the means for your business to physically expand and grow.
Modular buildings are essential sectioned prefabricated buildings consisting of multiple sections called modules. Modular is the method of construction and varies from traditional mead of building as most buildings of this type are built off-site.
Once complete, they are then delivered on-site, minimising disruption at a workplace. In many cases, the prefabricated modules are lifted in to place using a crane, set on its foundation and joined together with other modules and the existing building too.
These modules can be placed side by side, end to end or stacked meaning that there are a variety of configurations and styles.
But why modular buildings? #1 Limited space or awkward spaces
It may be that the small patch of outside space you have could be better utilised as another office or workspace but having walls built, utilities added and so forth is out of your budget, especially when you consider the small amount of space there is.
Modular building slot neatly into any size space as there are no maximum or minimum dimensions. Awkward shapes spaces also offer little in the way of resistance when it comes to designing a modular building with a perfect fit.
#2 Cost-effective
Using only the best in materials, there are no hidden or additional costs when it comes to modular building. They offer a complete and an often-immediate solution, the perfect choice when not only is the budget limited but time is too.
#3 Ideal turnkey solution
A turnkey solution is when a business takes possession of their modular building extension when it is finished.
A traditionally built extension is handed over at a certain point – in other words, at the point the client specifies. It might be that you need to arrange decorating or plastering, or plumbing and furniture etc.
With a turnkey solution, the modular building is made off site, brought to site and installed with everything complete. The key is given to you and all you need to do is open the door and start using it.
#4 A quick fix – long term and temporary
Modular construction is far quicker than that of traditionally built extensions and buildings. So much so that some people think modular or pre-fabricated units offer a short-term solution only.
This is not the case with many NHS hospitals, for example, significantly expanding space at their sites with modular buildings in the long term.
That said, if you need temporary accommodation, modular units offer the ideal solution.
#5 Minimal disruption
Builders and contractors on-site offer a health and safety headache. With modular buildings, you negate all this as everything happens away from your main site.
There is minimal disruption on the days that the units are installed, meaning that it is far less stressful than having a building contractor, the noise and the dust for months on end.
#6 Sustainable
All businesses are keen to have an environmentally friendly business as possible. Everything they do, from the waste they generate to how warm and cheap to run their buildings are, is important to the modern-day business.
Modular units are built from material that are considered environmentally friendly, as well as from sustainable materials. They are also energy efficient, meaning the cost of heating them is much cheaper than building that are not as well insulated.
The way in which these buildings are put together also uses less energy.
Thinking outside the box
Modular building and design pushes the envelope of modern construction methods. Specialist contractors are revolutionising the way that buildings are expanded, which for any business is great news.
Cheaper to build, cheaper to run, with a lot less hassle on site for months on end makes for a stress-free expansion project. Can modular units work for your business?
