First phase of Liverpool's 8 Water Street development nears completion
Mees Demolition is now on the verge of completing the first stage of the decommissioning of 8 Water Street.
Although work commenced just over 6 weeks ago, Mees Demolition is ahead of schedule.
Initial works where to decommission the main building from main series.
8 Water Street is set to be converted into 96 apartments and Mees Demolition have completed works to separate the residential section of the building which takes up about 80% of the space and the commercial aspect which fills the final 20% across parts of the ground, first and second floors.
The strip out has been completed and the company has also helped assist in the new reverse cycle hot and cold air system for the commercial area tenants with no disruption.
The demolition team will now be offsite before Christmas, on the 20th December passing over to builders who will start on the site in early 2017.
Plans include a complete overhaul of the building’s façade, the installation of feature lighting throughout and, subject to planning, an addition of two further floors and roof terrace.
Thomas Mee, managing director of Mees Demolition, said: “We were that impressed with the site and its fantastic location that we have now taken offices here ourselves and made this our Liverpool Head Office.
“We see the business district of Liverpool only going from strength to strength over the coming few years with lots of exciting projects in the pipeline.
Mees, which has offices in Manchester and London, recently moved headquarters from Speke to the city centre of Liverpool.
