Yorkshire festive focus: Martin Jones, Brawl
As Christmas is only weeks away, and the businesspeople of Yorkshire are preparing to hang up their stockings, Bdaily is catching up with the region’s business leaders to reflect on the highlights of 2016 and how they plan on spending the holiday period.
For the series’ next instalment, we are speaking with Martin Jones, managing director of Leeds-based content agency, Brawl.
Your Business
What were the three biggest highlights for your business in 2016?
Rebranding in February was a huge milestone for us, it’s proved to be a huge hit as 2016 has been an amazing year with some huge client wins and hugely successful projects. We also expanded our London office and grew our international operations.
What are your-your business’ goals going into 2017?
To build on the success of Brawl in 2016, and keep the momentum up for 2017. Also, to continue with our expansion plans into London, and further afield, but that’s all being kept under wraps for now.
Anything you/your business would have done differently over the past year?
The rebrand has proven such a success that I wish we’d done it earlier.
Your region
Why do you think Yorkshire is a great place to do business?
There’s a real buzz in the city, and there’s some great talent – working with great people on a daily basis makes for a great environment
Any other company/companies in the region stand out for you?
There are some great agencies in Yorkshire, doing great work for great brands, and we are proud to be a part of that resurgence. Yorkshire agencies are now competing on a global level.
What does Yorkshire want to see happen in the future/next year?
I’d like to see more investment in the transport infrastructure. We operate across the UK and internationally, so it is crucial we can travel efficiently.
Yourself
What individual goals did you achieve personally/professionally in 2016?
Seeing Brawl come to fruition was the biggest achievement by far. It was great to finally see months of planning come together and more importantly be so well received. The team here have achieved great things this year, and it’s great to be a part of it.
How to you unwind after a stressful day at work?
During the week I like to play football and spend time with my wife and two little girls. On the weekend a nice walk, a pint or tasting some of the amazing local Yorkshire food is my ideal way to unwind.
What would be the perfect Christmas gift for you?
Time, a few days to relax with the family and take stock of 2016, and recharge the batteries in earnest for 2017.
