Twenty-something drone tech entrepreneur secures four-figure investment

A 21 year-old entrepreneur from the University of Cambridge who has pioneered a social enterprise concept aimed at getting immunisations to remote communities using drones has secured a £1,000 grant from The Formations Company.

The four-figure sum comes after Fergus Kennedy’s ParaPatch concept saw him scoop the 2016 Young Entrepreneur Award from the company formation agent, and a free company registration.

Drawing entrants from universities across the UK, including the London School of Economics and the University of Warwick, the competition was open to anyone currently studying in higher education with a innovation business idea or proposition.

Fergus’ winning idea combines vaccine patches with drone technology to help immunise hard-to-reach rural populations, with the cash set to be invested in developing an initial prototype of the idea.

Following his win, he said: “I’m thrilled to have won – support from The Formations Company will enable me to continue exploring the newest and most exciting technologies.”
