Cumbria “open for business” thanks to LDHA campaign

The Lake District Hotels Association (LDHA), which is made up of 34 hotels and 20 attractions throughout Cumbria, has launched its campaign to drive tourism to the Lakes this winter following last winter’s flooding in the region. The ‘Reveal the Real Lake District’ campaign has been officially launched today with the announcement of an exclusive voucher booklet and hotel deals, offering unique discounts and offers to tourists throughout the winter months. The campaign is partnered with ethical outdoor adventure clothing brand Fjällräven and local environmental charity “Nurture Lakeland”.

The LDHA has collaborated with independent local businesses and attractions to create the booklet, which aims to drive an increase in visitors to the Lake District over the next three months. Included in the booklet are exclusive discounts ranging from money off key attractions like Windermere Lake Cruises and the famous Dove Cottage, to free photo packages at Honister “Climb in the Mine” experience and food and tour giveaways from Grasmere Gingerbread and Hawkshead Brewery. The booklet will be available from LDHA member hotels until February 2017.

Tim Rumney, Vice Chair at the LDHA, commented: “The sense of community among business owners in our region is second to none and never has that been more evident than in 2016, following the floods last winter. We want to show the UK everything we love about the Lakes and ensure it is on the map as a tourist hotspot, offering everything from relaxation and great food and drink, to brilliant activities and festive fun.

“All of the participating businesses here are working together very closely in order to provide a truly unique offering to those visiting the Lakes this winter. Essentially, the message is that we’re well and truly open for business.”
