London's Bijou Commerce has lined up some massive brands and retailers for its US expansion
Bijou Commerce, the London-headquartered commerce platform, has announced it is to launch a multi-brand consumer app in the US this summer featuring products from some major American brands and retailers.
The new app dubbed ‘Bijou’ will give use consumers the opportunity to browse clothing from over 50 household names, including Bloomingdale’s, Kohl’s and Guess, alongside UK brands such as Dorothy Perkins and Forever 21.
Based around their Tinder-style swipe UI, the app will allow users to checkout and pay through the app without clicking off to retailer’s websites - a factor which the London startup claim should massively improve conversion rates.
Orders will them be fulfilled by each individual retailer with Bijou taking a cut from each sale. The ecommerce firm has said that more details on its distribution plans for the platform will be revealed in the coming months.
Ahead of the launch, Olly Cooper, Chief Executive Officer of Bijou, said: “We are very excited about the launch of our unique marketplace app – our single basket technology ensures no interruption on the path-to-purchase, and we expect this to do wonders for conversion rates.”
The launch comes as the business, which has previously been backed by Tom Singh and Andy Murray, closes in on its £800k crowdfunding target on Seedrs.
