Generator launches digital mentoring programme to support region's businesses

A new digital initiative by digital support agency Generator has launched this week aiming to give the region’s digital businesses and creatives access to mentoring and support that will help them make the most of the latest innovations.

The Digital Literacy Programme will be shaped around a series of one-to-one mentoring sessions with a team of digital experts, giving applicants in the creative, digital and music industries access to advice and guidance on expanding their online presence across mediums including apps, ecommerce and streaming platforms.

Generator has said that successful applicants drawn from the NE LEP area, encompassing Tyne and Wear, Northumberland and County Durham, will be put through a series of intensive mentoring sessions totalling up to 12 hours over a one month period.

The programme’s team of experts will be drawn from some of the region’s expert web developers and marketers who will be imparting their knowledge to help participating businesses and individuals improved the effectiveness of their digital efforts.

Generator’s Business Support Programme Manager, Emma Whitenstall, believes the initiative’s launch coincides nicely with Tech Nation’s recent report, which painted a buoyant picture of the region’s tech scene and highlighted the strength of the North East creative and digital sector.

She said: “The recent Tech Nation Report proved just how strong and dynamic the North East creative digital sector is and now is the perfect time to launch this. We’re sure that this will improve the sector’s contribution to the economy even further by driving more web traffic to local businesses.

“As with all Generator’s business support programmes, it is open to all artists, music and creative and digital businesses within the NE LEP area (Tyne & Wear, Northumberland and County Durham).

“If you feel you need to improve your businesses convergence within the digital world, contact us and we can assess what we can do for you. We use the very best developers to provide solutions to help you increase efficiency and reach new target markets.”

Jon Corbett, who is Managing Director of local PR and Marketing firm, JAC Media, is one of the experts that Generator has corralled for the new programme, and the PR chief said he was looking forward to imparting his ‘insider knowledge’.

He added: “We have an incredible mix of creative and digital companies in the North East and we want this programme to ensure that their online presence reflects that.

“We hope that by improving the digital presence and reach of local businesses, this will drive more traffic to their websites and in turn increase business and revenue. We look forward to companies getting in touch!”
