Lancashire manufacturer GJD boosts perimeter security with laser tech acquisition
North West manufacturer GJD has announced a new technological acquisition as it looks to strengthen its offer.
The Lancashire-based firm, which makes external detector equipment and LED illuminators, purchased the infra-red beam and barrier technology and all related intellectual property rights from Surrey business Radiovisor Limited.
GJD is expecting Radiovisor’s ‘PREDATOR’ range of infrared beams for use in hazardous areas to enhance the appeal of its perimeter security range.
Following the deal, the beam sets will now be manufactured at GJD’s Heywood factory.
Radiovisor, trading as Lazer Systems, was founded more than 90 years ago.
GJD’s managing director, Mark Tibbenham, said: “We are extremely proud to make this announcement.
“A strategic acquisition of this nature will enable the company to substantially develop and grow in terms of security technology innovation.”
Mark continued: “There is a huge demand for high-end and intelligent IR beam sets as well as reliable detectors that can be used in hazardous areas.”
Radiovisor Limited MD Stephen Lasenby commented: “GJD is a professional and well respected company and is ideally placed to take our IR beam technology forward.
“We are confident that our customers and suppliers will benefit greatly from the ‘GJD’ brand, their focus on technology innovation and world class service.”
He added: “This change is fantastic news for our customers and partners. Radiovisor will continue to support our customers during the transition process to ensure it is as smooth as possible.”
