June was the month that Facebook Descended on Newcastle

Looking back on a high profile month for the digital economy in the region, in-house marketers from across the North East came together at the Tyneside Cinema in Newcastle last week for an exclusive event featuring social media big hitter, Facebook.

The invite only event attracted over a hundred marketing specialists from businesses across the region.

Global digital performance agency, iProspect, teamed up with Facebook and mobile specialist agency, Fetch, to discuss some of the latest trends across social media and mobile.

With digital-first businesses disrupting the market by exploiting the growing opportunities to connect, communicate and offer greater experiences to their customers, iProspect wanted to give key business across the North East the chance to explore what brands need to do to thrive and grow in today’s digital economy.

Amongst the speakers was John Carr, Partnerships Manager at Facebook. Carr, who works with some of the largest brands and agencies in the UK & Ireland to help shape their business strategy across both Facebook and Instagram, shared the latest advancements from the social platforms and how they can help brands optimise their optimising content for their audience.

Carr was joined by James Lodge, Director of Mobile at Fetch, the global mobile-first agency, and Alex Pickering, Head of Paid Social for iProspect. Exploring the latest trends in voice search and vertical video, the sessions gave delegates actionable advice in how to incorporate a mobile approach effectively into digital strategies.

Chairing and steering the discussion throughout the day, were Managing Partner for Dentsu Aegis Network Newcastle, David Crawley and Director for iProspect Newcastle, Steve Underwood.

Commenting on the event, Underwood said: “It has been fantastic to see such an appetite from the delegates to explore the latest trends in the digital economy across the North East. The digital industry in the region is thriving and it was a great iProspect could leverage our global relationship with Facebook to bring them to the North East.”

Commenting on his experience delegate Danny Jarvis, Marketing Manager for Hodgson Motor Group stated: “It’s not often you get to attend a conference with such great speakers right on your doorstep. Great insightful content definitely gave me food for thought.”

This is the second time iProspect have held a conference of this nature in Newcastle, following its successful launch event with Google in 2015.
