Macclesfield College Celebrates League Table Success
Macclesfield College is Cheshire’s top place to study for Level 3 Applied General and Tech level qualifications according to league tables released by the Department for Education (DfE).
Marking another landmark in Macclesfield College’s continuing success in raising standards and improving outcomes for students, the DfE data also confirms that the college is outperforming all 10 Greater Manchester GFE Colleges when it comes to students staying in education or gaining employment after leaving. An impressive 89 per cent of Macclesfield College students stay in education or enter employment after their studies, placing the College in second place for this important selection criterion for the whole of Cheshire.
The college also scored well for achievement in core academic subjects, making progress well above the national average. Meanwhile data for its Level 2 learners also demonstrates that Macclesfield College is performing well above the average for England.
Rachel Kay, principal and chief executive of Macclesfield College comments: “Over the past two years we have really worked hard to build on the standards of attainment at Macclesfield College, creating a culture of aspiration and ambition across both staff and students.
“These DfE figures demonstrate the success of that approach, not only in the above national average results our students are achieving, but also in developing relationships with real businesses in industry and commerce to support a choice of pathways for our students. As a result, when they leave here they are work ready and can select the employment or education options that suit their individual aims and abilities.”
