Girl power is a Knockout for leading tour operator
Europe’s number one sports travel group Sports Tours International has signed professional Team GB and England boxer Stacey Copeland as its first Community Sports Ambassador.
Three-time national champion Stacey, from Hyde, Tameside, joins Olympic Gold medallist Joanna Rowsell-Shand and running legend Ron Hill MBE as an ambassador for the international sports tour operator.
Commenting on her new role, Stacey said: “I’m delighted to be an ambassador for a company which represents so many of the values which are close to my heart. I’m passionate about encouraging people to be active because of the positive impact it has on our overall wellbeing, and I know the difference it can make not only on individuals but also on whole communities. For me personally, sport has been an incredible force in my life, I hope to inspire others so that they can experience that, too!”
As part of her role Stacey will be supporting a number of UK events, including competing in the iconic Tour of Tameside running event, as well as regular blogs sharing her experiences and training tips with customers.
Chris Bird, CEO of Sports Tours International, commented: “We are very excited to welcome Stacey as our community sports ambassador. Our mission is to create the world’s largest active lifestyle community and whilst we are an international brand, it’s important to engage with our local communities in the North West too. Not only is Stacey focused on encouraging young people to get active, she is a fantastic role model for inspiring girls and women in sport.”
Stacey loved football and boxing from an early age, but boxing was illegal for women so her career started in football, playing for the women’s Premier League and in an FA Cup Final.
In 2011, Stacey made her boxing debut and has gone on to win a European silver, three national titles, multi nations gold and medalled at numerous international tournaments.
Stacey’s next fight will be held on 2nd March 2018 at Bowlers Arena, Manchester.
