Australasia Wild in Art app success for Mediaworks
Digital marketing agency Mediaworks has taken their Wild in Art apps Down Under in support of art trails in Auckland and Perth.
A number of global brands have made Mediaworks their chosen digital partner who have launched campaigns everywhere from France and Spain to the USA and UAE — and this month, ventured even further to Australia and New Zealand.
Back in 2016, Mediaworks worked with St Oswald’s Hospice to create an app to support the Great North Snowdogs art trail. The app was hugely successful in helping visitors engage with the pop-up Snowdog sculpture trail, achieving over 11,000 downloads and more than 2.5 million interactions.
The success of the app led them to partner with Wild in Art, a creative producer of mass-appeal public art events. Recognising the impact a supplementary app could have for art trail engagement and charity fundraising, Mediaworks created a base app with modular components and functionality that could be reskinned and deployed for each new event. Having these base elements to hand minimises the development time required and enables charities to bring a digital element to the trail that may have previously been out of reach.
This base functionality included find, unlock and vote features as standard, while the bespoke CMS meant this capability could be expanded according to the art trail’s size and budget.
The latest addition to Mediaworks’ Wild in Art app portfolio is in support of The Haier Big Hoot and The Big Splash WA, the charity art trails that are currently taking over Auckland, New Zealand and Perth, Australia respectively. The giant owl sculptures are in aid of Child Cancer Foundation and the pod of dolphin sculptures has been created to raise awareness and funds in support of Perth Children’s Hospital’s Child and Adolescent Mental Health unit.
The apps have been built with map functionality to help visitors find the sculptures, track their progress, learn more about the artwork and unlock the sculptures to access rewards. They recently launched on the App Store and Google Play.
Mediaworks’ Managing Director, Brett Jacobson, said: “As our partnership with Wild in Art continues, we’re proud to help charities across the globe maximise the impact their fundraising efforts have. With an app in place, we hope The Haier Big Hoot and The Big Splash WA will raise plenty of vital funds to help support the charities and their fantastic work.”
Sally-Ann Wilkinson, Director at Wild in Art, added: “Our apps bring even more enjoyment to fun, family-friendly art events, and their development by Mediaworks marks a significant milestone in our history of connecting communities, businesses, and artists through creativity.”
