SPREADSHIRT 2017 REVENUE TOPS €100M FOR THE FIRST TIME
Record Profits, Encouraging UK Growth and Over 77% Increase in Marketplace Partners
London, 8 May 2018 – Sales, profit and users are up at Spreadshirt, the self-expression global e-commerce company. In 2017 Spreadshirt increased growth and recorded an exceptional €8.2M EBITDA. The 15-year-old enterprise achieved this in a year when most of the competition lost ground.
Through simplification, strategic technology investments and a focus on the highly competitive USA market, Spreadshirt had a remarkable year, hitting a total revenue of more than €107 million globally. The UK showed encouraging revenue growth too; €4.7m, up over 5% from 2016. Worldwide, the self-expression global company has seen growth rate of 14.8% from 2016 to 2017. The Licensing business is also up 46% globally in 2017.
Spreadshirt recorded a steep, 77% increase in the number of Marketplace Partners selling their ideas. In 2017, Spreadshirt saw a 22,2% increase in global commission, with partners earning €16.8m. An EU-based partner was the first ever Spreadshirt t-shirt millionaire, earning over €1 million in commission.
“2018 has been my favourite year yet at Spreadshirt so far”, says Philip Rooke, CEO of Spreadshirt. “We’ve grown revenue, broken our €100m target, achieved record profits and increased content on the site through our 80,000 active sellers. We’ve also minted our first t-shirt millionaire! Growth in the UK has been heartening and we’ve achieved 50% market share growth in the USA”.
He continued, “We’re continually adding new products and shipped close to 5 million printed products in 2017. This year we are making an aggressive move to go beyond apparel and accessories and enter into the new wall prints sector.”
In 2017, Spreadshirt shipped to 166 countries, including new countries like Burundi, Central African Republic, Eritrea and Comoros that demonstrate the extensive international reach. The firm is on a mission to bring great designs and messages beyond the digital world to share with their global fans.
