TechyTots: The South Tyneside platform teaching youngsters how to code
A business set up to help children learn coding has taken on its first franchisees as it begins to roll-out the idea nationally.
Mum-of-two, Gemma Murray, founded TechyTots in 2017 after discussing her idea with her brother, a software engineer.
She began looking at what was available in this country for children to learn coding skills and realised that there was nothing available for the early years. After researching into coding and how these skills can impact upon children’s futures, TechyTots was launched.
Initially operating across South Tyneside, the idea is said to have proved so successful that Gemma struggled to meet the demand for classes. As a result, she has franchised the thriving business.
One of the first franchisees is Sunderland-based Louisa Mills. She said: “I am so excited to be part of TechyTots and cant wait to start teaching sessions in the local area.”
She has just signed up her first two franchisees in Sunderland and Sussex, and hopes to sign up more franchisees all over the UK.
Gemma added: “I am delighted that Louisa and Sarah are joining TechyTots as franchisees. Once they are up and running I’ll be looking at expanding into other areas across the UK.
“The children we teach at TechyTots learn the foundations of coding and computer commands before they can even write and spell words. TechyTots uses unplugged play to lay the foundations and instil the early steps of coding.”
