That's a wrap! Hays raises over £12,000 for Action for Children over the festive period
Following a variety of festive fundraising activities, Hays, the leading recruiting experts has raised £12,697 over the Christmas period for their charity partner, Action for Children.
Staff from offices across the UK took part in a number of activities to raise vital funds, including a Christmas auction at the Hays office in New Malden, carols at the Hays office in Cheapside, London City and even a Santa run.
The fundraising comes after Hays raised over £120,000 in the first year of its partnership with Action for Children. Hays originally aimed to raise £60,000 to fund an employability programme for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds struggling to get their foot on the work ladder. Having doubled this amount their fundraising will now fund a second programme to help even more young people develop the skills they need.
Managing Director of Hays UK & Ireland, Simon Winfield said: “It’s been fantastic to raise over £12,000 in a few short weeks and it’s a real credit to our staff across the UK who got involved in fundraising and organising activities. After such a strong first year of our partnership we are looking forward to continuing to come up with innovative fundraising ideas and taking on tough challenges, so we can help more disadvantaged young people get the start in life they deserve. We look forward to continuing to work with Action for Children in 2019.”
Staff from offices in London City and New Malden also volunteered their own time to help wrap presents at Camden and Islington Short Breaks, a service run by Action for Children which provides support for disabled young people.
Mary O’Hagan, Head of Corporate Engagement at Action for Children, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Hays colleagues across the UK and Ireland for their fantastic festive fundraising efforts last month. The funds raised will enable us to support some of the most disadvantaged young people into employment, transforming their future life chances.”
As part of the charity partnership, staff from Hays offices across the country are undertaking a number of fundraising activities to fund an employability programme for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds struggling to get their foot on the work ladder.
