It's Gone viral reunites Will Mellor & Ralf Little for social media pilot

Social media marketing company It’s Gone Viral has teamed up with actor Will Mellor for a brand new social series called Taste Buds which will be available to view on IGV’s Facebook and Twitter from 8pm on Friday 20th December.

Will is best known for his television roles, including as Gaz Wilkinson in Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, DC Spike Tanner in No Offence, Steve Connolly in Broadchurch, and Ollie Curry in White Van Man as well as his regular appearances on Celebrity Juice.

Taste Buds sees Will being reunited with Ralf Little, his Two Pints co-star. In the hilarious first episode the pair visit the Salt Beer Factory in Saltaire, which is also the sponsor of the pilot, where they’re given a load of beer and lager related challenges, including guessing the percentages and whether the beer they’re tasting is cask or draught, or craft or a big brand. The pilot and its style is very much a homage to their Two Pints legacy and is built around the banter the two characters on the show are so loved for.

The plan for Taste Buds is to commission an initial run of four episodes with each one being between three and six minutes long.

The style is very relaxed and conversational with no set script or format. The only structure is the challenges themselves – everything else is spontaneous and natural adding to the unpredictability and irreverence of the series.

Andrew Trotman – co-founder of It’s Gone Viral – said: “We’ve been looking to develop more episodic video content for a while but we knew the concept had to be right and really engage our communities. For us, the opportunity to work with Will was too good an opportunity to pass up as our audiences have a real affinity with him and his work. We feel Taste Buds has real potential to make its mark as a standalone social series.”

Will said: “As soon as I heard about the concept for Taste Buds I was in. I loved the looseness of the format and the chance to get back together with Ralf for the pilot was fantastic. I’m really pleased with how it’s turned out and I hope people enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed making it.”

Over the past few months, It’s Gone Viral has steadily increased its output of high quality long form content including interviews with the Stephen Merchant and Kevin Hart. Its Film division has seen a 60% surge in the number of projects that it is delivering for studios including major names such as Lionsgate, Universal, Sony Pictures, Warner Bros, BBC Films and StudioCanal.
