EHL Ingredients gains first AA BRC food safety rating
EHL Ingredients has been awarded its first AA grade by the British Retail Consortium (BRC) Global Standard for Food Safety at its Stockport operations.
The supplier of food ingredients and blends under its dedicated Lähde brand has achieved a A grade for the past ten years, but has continually improved and enhanced all three of its sites, leading to it achieving the highest standard in food safety.
The audit is a well-established standard and is a certification programme recognised by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), which is trusted by retailers and buyers worldwide as a mark of the highest standards in food manufacturing. The certification process included an intensive three-day audit at EHL Ingredients’ production, administration and storage sites. The audit assesses the rigorous standards covered in the BRC Global Standard, including senior management commitment and performance, HACCP, product and process controls, and health and safety.
Tasneem Alonzo, joint managing director at EHL Ingredients, says:
“For the past ten years, we have received A grades consistently, so we’re delighted to have achieved the top level AA grade this time, thanks to our continuous improvements, and our commitment to supplying high quality, safe products to our customers in the food manufacturing, retail, hospitality and catering sectors. The quality and safety of our products are our top priority so we’re extremely proud that our achievements have been recognised and rewarded with this exceptional grade.
“The award also recognises the dedication and commitment of our management and employees, who work so hard to uphold the highest standards in all areas of work. We’re committed to maintaining this standard and to build on this success to maintain our strong position in the food industry.
“While times have been tough since the Covid-19 outbreak, we’ve been working hard to ensure we fulfill our contracts, source the highest quality ingredients and meet the changing demands of the food ingredient sector. We all need to be agile, flexible and understanding as we manage new consumer preferences and adapt to an ever-changing environment.
“This result is a real boost for our team and it confirms to us, and our customers, that we operate to a globally recognised standard for food safety, and that our facilities are second-to-none.
