Pearson announces 41 per cent increase in online enrolment
A global learning company has announced that it saw a 41 per cent increase in enrolment on its online courses this year.
Pearson, which is based in London, saw its global online learning sales grow by 14 per cent across first three quarters of the year, which it said is due to the increased enrolment levels for the 2020/21 academic year.
However, its overall sales declined by 14 per cent, reflecting the impact of the coronavirus, with test centre and school closures around the world.
After nine months, Pearson has said that it is on track to deliver an outturn broadly in line with market expectations, but added that larger than usual uncertainties surround the fourth quarter, particularly internationally.
John Fallon, chief executive of Pearson, commented: “Our digital performance is very strong, as we support customers and learners around the world as they shift to fully online and hybrid learning.
“This has been a challenging transformation for all of us but we are starting to see the benefit of all our work to ensure Pearson becomes the winner in digital learning.
“We are focusing on what learners care most about - a fantastic user experience, enabling better learning outcomes and offering great value.”
