Northumberland engineering firm expands with £42k grant for new plant

A Northumberland engineering firm has announced that it has expanded and created jobs following a five-figure grant.

Glendale Engineering, based in Wooler, secured a £42.6k grant from the North of Tyne Rural Business Growth Service for the acquisition of a new plant.

The grant has allowed the company to start a new arm in ground works, leading to the hire of four new full-time staff coupled with the acquisition of the Excavator plant.

This will enable the business to take on larger scale projects than were previously possible and increase its efficiency and profitability through its new plant and machinery.

Councillor Bruce Pickard, North of Tyne’s cabinet member for economic growth and deputy leader of North Tyneside Council said: “Now, more than ever, support for businesses in the North of Tyne is key.

“I’m delighted we’ve been able to make this investment which will allow Glendale Engineering to take the next steps to fulfil their potential.

“It’s fantastic to see such a local company flourish and become one of the pillars of our rural economy.”
