ParkingPerx’s Christmas Mission to Retain £1million in the Local Economy
ParkingPerx is launching its Shop Local campaign today, with the objective of retaining over £1million in Kendal’s local economy this Christmas.
Chris Reed, MD and Founder of ParkingPerx, explains: “We want to spread the message this year that if every adult in South Lakeland spent just £30 on Christmas gifts this year at independently owned businesses, over £1million would be retained in the local economy.
“Boosting local economies is at the heart of our business and to support local spending this year in Kendal after such as disappointing festive period in 2020, we are urging everyone to spend just 10% of their Christmas shopping budget on their local high street.
“Our aim has always been to benefit local businesses AND local shoppers and so we also have lots of rewards and incentives planned over the next weeks as we play our part in spreading some festive spirit – exclusive offers, free products and bonus deals have been designed to engage and inspire ParkingPerx subscribers to act with their feet and get to the high street!”
Tim Farron, Liberal Democrat MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale, said: “The ParkingPerx ethos aligns to our long-term ambitions for Westmorland and Lonsdale to ensure safe, bustling commercial centres are attractive to those living, working and visiting the area. “By shopping locally this Christmas and exploring what’s right here on the doorstep, each individual can make a difference – boosting our local businesses at a critical time as they continue to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.” Tim added: “Shopping locally does far more than just enable you to get the items you want quickly and conveniently – it stimulates the economy in our community, benefiting businesses, local schools and charities, as well as attracting further inward investment, retaining and creating jobs, and it even helps the environment.”
ParkingPerx app users spending locally will not only be supporting their local community, they will also earn credits (known as ‘Perx’) at participating businesses to redeem against parking costs in car parks across Kendal. With both independent businesses and big-name brands on the app, Kendal high street is the ideal place for shoppers to kick-start to their Christmas shopping.
As an extra thank you, ParkingPerx is also giving shoppers the chance to win a £100 gift card to spend on the Kendal high street this December. To enter, shoppers simply need to download the ParkingPerx app and register their account before 30th November. A winner will be picked at random on 1st December.
