E-Commerce agency relaunches ‘GirlCode’
Retail eCommerce experts, Cake, are celebrating the return of events by hosting the popular GirlCode event series to mark ‘Galentine’s Day’ next month. Founded by Cake’s Operations Director, Cheryl Thomas, GirlCode was established in 2018 to spotlight women working in digital and creative services.
Taking place on the Tuesday 15 February at Cake Agency HQ in the Jewellery Quarter, the event will welcome discussions on overcoming challenges in the digital industry and being a go-getter from seasoned creatives Tara Tomes and Hattie D’Souza from EAST VILLAGE, Kim Leary from Squibble and Chi Drew from The WooHoo Club.
Bringing together women across the region each quarter, GirlCode provides a safe space to share, connect, learn, and grow with like-minded women in the industry. From wellbeing to business development, Cheryl ensures that every quarter includes discussions around innovations and key issues that affect women in the sector.
Cheryl Thomas, Founder of GirlCode, comments:
“I am so excited to be hosting GirlCode’s very first event of 2022 next month. We’ve got so much to discuss, and I couldn’t think of four better women to kick off the first event with. When I first launched GirlCode, I wanted to create a community for women across the region – a place for all to come and support each other within the digital and creative industry. We’ve had a wonderful 4 years with so many influential and inspiring speakers, and I look forward to bringing these events back to encourage and empower women in Birmingham and beyond this year.”
Beyond its support for women in the digital and creative industries, Cake also hosts a monthly Social Circle event with Marketing Director, Kirstie Smith, alongside a quarterly Shopify Meetup with several members of the team. Social Circle operates in three different cities (Birmingham, Manchester and Sydney) and aims to bring together digital marketing and social media enthusiasts across the region. The agency’s Shopify Meetup also provides insight and expert advice for online retail businesses, whilst also spotlighting the diverse range of brands that Cake supports.
“As an agency we pride ourselves on supporting other creatives and businesses within the city, so it’s important to us that we offer these community groups for them to meet like-minded people. We’ve got so many exciting things in store with both Social Circle and the Shopify Meetup so we cannot wait to host some wonderful events this year,” continues Cheryl.
