Tokyo-inspired Soho restaurant group continues expansion with addition of new “elegant” Marylebone location
Japanese-inspired Soho restaurant, Chotto Matte, has announced the opening of its newest site, situated in the “elegant residential setting” of Marylebone.
The expansion of Chotto Matte in cities across the US such as San Francisco, Nashville, and Los Angeles, demonstrates significant growth for the restaurant group, even despite the unforeseen impact of the pandemic. Current sites include the Soho flagship, alongside Miami and Toronto.
Compared to the hustle of downtown Soho, Chotto Matte Marylebone will provide a more relaxed hub, adapting seamlessly to the location, while the “unmistakable essence” of the brand remains at the forefront.
Chotto Matte’s founder, Kurt Zdesar, commented: “We are delighted to continue our expansion plans for Chotto Matte. We cannot wait for the new phase of growth to allow more people to experience the very best of authentic innovative Nikkei cuisine in stylish architectural spaces across the globe.
“We are proud to expand our brand in such an elegant neighbourhood and bring the spirit of Chotto Matte to the Marylebone locals. We are confident the community will appreciate the brand and its values.”
The new site will be designed by award-winning architect and long standing brand partner Andy Martin Architecture (AMA). The Marylebone site will adorn features such as natural lava stone surrounding the restaurant.
All key design features are inspired by Tokyo’s contemporary urban culture. Chotto Matte’s entertainment will follow the brand to the new location. Customers will enjoy immersive experiences and artistic activations.
Group executive chef Jordan Sclare has designed the menu, with new dishes exclusively available in Marylebone. Jordan is said to have played a fundamental role in the conception of the Chotto Matte culinary identity, with his use of traditional “Nikkei” techniques.
Trained and inspired by Sclare, Begonya Sanchez will serve as head chef at the new location. She states: “I am so excited to bring the Chotto Matte experience to Marylebone and showcase my potential as their Head Chef.
“We are introducing a collection of brand new premium dishes for the launch, combining the essence of Chotto Matte with an elevated dining experience.”
