Panel of virtual reality experts ready to help businesses prepare for metaverse future success

Manufacturers and business owners looking to understand the potential of the metaverse can sign up for a free webinar where experts from leading brands including Sony will outline the future opportunities of virtual reality.

Digital Wonderland, organised for Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (GBSLEP) and Birmingham City University (BCU) by business strategy specialists Rockfine Group, will explore the advances of new technology to give West Midlands companies help planning.

Organisers say the two hour workshop, which kicks off at 3pm on Thursday March 10, will “bring together the people that are making money and working with the companies in the digital wonderland behind the filter and the VR goggle”.

The metaverse is the virtual world that is entered by users interacting via augmented reality and virtual reality. Leading brands are investing in virtual technology, which allows a range of sectors to use virtual worlds to train staff, trial new products or create scenarios for future business planning.

The panel of experts includes metaverse and gaming specialist Mike Quintana, Innovation Director of Sony Hawkeye, who will outline the work of big-name tech companies, the trends they are following and what they are looking for in development partners.

The other speakers are Tim Luft, Innovation Director for TalkOut Group, who will explore games development across VR platforms and Javier Miranda, Managing Director of Studio Victoria, who will demonstrate how to immerse a business in the metaverse.

Host BD Dalton, Strategic Director for Rockfine Group, which has its Birmingham HQ on Colmore Circus Queensway, has coordinated the event to inform attendees on the commercial opportunities. He said: “Digital Wonderland is the perfect opportunity for tech and manufacturing businesses to figure out how their businesses can benefit from moving into augmented or virtual reality.

“We have industry experts that will give practical examples about how to create content, or collaborate on someone else’s, with the workshop bringing together leading figures to help delegates understand if the metaverse is the right space for them. The likes of Boeing and Microsoft are using the metaverse to train staff on new processes, medical training is being carried out through virtual reality and some police forces are using it to prepare staff for challenging scenarios.

“Working with the GBSLEP and BCU we are bringing together the people that are making money and working with the companies in the digital wonderland behind the filter and the VR goggle.”

BCU Growth Hub Manager David Tomalin said: “Customers in the future will be looking at screens to influence decisions so we are pleased to be offering Digital Wonderland to help businesses realise that as we move further into computer dependency there are ways you can advertise, develop and promote your business in the digital realm without huge risks.
