Sports Direct appoints Cowshed Social as its social production partner
Cowshed Social, a full service social content and video production agency, has been appointed by Sports Direct as the sport retailer’s retained video content production partner following a long-term competitive pitch process.
Starting this month (May 2022), the London-based agency has been appointed to undertake the brand’s YouTube channel management, which will see the 47-strong agency devise all strategy, creative and production as well as talent management, through its specialist talent department. Cowshed Social will be basing content around three key pillars of football, culture and entertainment to drive brand awareness, engagement and on and offline footfall.
Since launching in July 2019, Cowshed Social has already amassed an impressive client base. Counting global brands including KFC, Boohoo, Chelsea FC and Footasylum among its roster, the agency is already making its mark as a highly creative long form video and YouTube content specialist. Its highly credible team includes former reality TV camera operatives and production staff, video production experts formerly of Unilad, creatives from ASOS.com and strategists from Beano to name a few.
Co-founded by ex-Unilad’s George Cowin (29) and Video Europe’s Ryan O’Shea (26), Cowshed Social has grown 1,500% between year one and three and is set to turnover £5m in its third year.
George Cowin, co-founder at Cowshed Social, said: “We’re delighted to have been appointed by Sports Direct - it’s a brand we hugely admire for its agility and growth in the sport retail sector. We’re deeply passionate about working with sport brands and have amassed several clients in this space, which is testament to our skill in and knowledge of this industry. The team is in place and production commences this week, so we’re currently enjoying that new client buzz and using it to transform great ideas into amazing ones!”
Beckie Stanion, Chief Marketing Officer at Sports Direct, said: “We’re delighted to partner with Cowshed Social to launch our brand-new Sports Direct YouTube channel. Social media is a vital part of our elevation and brand strategy, and we’re hugely excited about building our YouTube community through entertaining sports content.”
