Female-led clothing manufacturer celebrates “truly incredible” milestone

Female-led clothing manufacturer and sourcing company, Aspirado Trading, is celebrating a milestone accomplishment this summer as it marks its 23rd year in the fashion industry.

Founded in Delhi in 1999 by fashion industry veteran Anshuman Gupta, Aspirado Trading has since expanded from India first to the fashion hub of New York and then later to London.

Today, the womenswear and menswear wholesalers has carved out a space as a “premium” wholesale supplier, trusted by a wealth of high street and high-end brands including ASOS, Max Mara, Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom, JCPenney, Neiman Marcus and Lord & Taylor.

Anshuman, 65, launched the company herself, handling all sales, marketing, and manufacturing before taking on a single employee as her business began to grow. The brand’s first sale was to a supermarket in Mexico.

Deals with major Italian fashion brands, US department stores and online retailers followed, helping the business grow from two people to a team of 25, all based in Delhi, by 2005. Now the small, specialist team of 28 is based across the brand’s three international locations and continues to “thrive”, despite the challenges faced by the fashion industry post-pandemic.

Aspirado Trading’s founder, Anshuman Gupta, said: “Celebrating our 23rd year in business, and looking back across our journey from my own vision, working by myself with no prior experience running a business, to winning orders from major brands and opening offices in New York and London is truly incredible.

“We have gone from strength to strength even during the pandemic and we’re now focused on building a vision for the future. We’ll continue to be a key partner for major retailers, while also gaining stakes in other brands and growing our name into new markets.”

The Aspirado Trading offering now spans a range of specialist fashion services, including clothing sourcing and manufacturing. It has added a range of niche offerings to its menu, with a focus on specialty knits, product development and merchandising.

The product range has grown from womenswear and menswear to encompass children’s clothing, home décor, bed linen, carpets and rugs, kitchen and dining products and garden items.
