Madeira Lodge Care Home Boosts Residents' Wellbeing with Oomph Wellness Partnership
Residents of Madeira Lodge Care Home are experiencing a boost in their physical and emotional wellbeing thanks to a new partnership with Oomph Wellness, a platform that offers tailored activities and programmes to promote overall health and wellbeing.
The Care Home has ingeniously used the platform to complement the individual care plans of residents, ensuring everyone benefits from person centred activities that are tailored to their individual interests and preferences.
It becomes increasingly important to maintain our physical and emotional health. This is particularly true for those residing in care homes, who may be more susceptible to social isolation, cognitive decline, and physical health problems. That’s where Oomph Wellness comes in - a company that specialises in providing activities and programmes specifically designed for care homes to promote physical and emotional wellbeing.
Residents are enjoying a range of physical activities such as chair-based exercises, or dance classes, which are designed to improve mobility, balance, and flexibility, as well as reducing the risk of falls and other injuries. In addition, they are also taking part in emotional wellbeing activities such as gardening, mindfulness sessions, and creative arts workshops, which can help to reduce stress and anxiety, promote relaxation, and improve mood and self-esteem.
In addition to these activities, Oomph Wellness also offers training and support for care home staff to ensure that activities are person-centred and linked to individual care plans. This means that staff are equipped with the knowledge and skills to deliver activities that are tailored to the specific needs and interests of each resident. This can help to improve engagement and participation in activities, as well as promoting a sense of empowerment and autonomy for residents.
Residents and staff alike have expressed their enthusiasm for the new partnership with Oomph Wellness. “It’s been wonderful to see our residents participating in new activities and really enjoying themselves,” says Adam Hutchison, Managing Director at Belmont Healthcare. “It’s clear that Oomph Wellness understands the importance of tailoring activities to individual needs and interests, and we’re thrilled to be working with them to promote overall health and wellbeing for our residents.”
The Care Home has already achieved great success with some residents living with dementia. Some who previously preferred to stay in their rooms to participate in an activity are now more open to participate socially in lounge-based activities.
Adam goes on to say: “Our person-centred approach to care offers meaningful and engaging activities for individual residents, which in turn has led to increased socialisation, cognitive stimulation, and overall wellbeing. It’s a fabulous tool that has specifically helped us engage further with those living with advanced dementia.”
