High street slime store ‘Gootopia’ to open pop-up In Wandsworth

High street slime store, Gootopia, is opening a seven week-long pop-up at Southside Shopping Centre in Wandsworth from 1st August.

Having won the centre’s Soapbox Challenge, which invited independent local businesses to pitch their business for the chance to win a month-long occupancy at the centre, the pop-up will be the brand’s second store, following the opening of the first UK high street slime store at Lewisham in March of this year.

The new pop-up at Southside will feature shelves of ready-made slime, slime ingredients, activator, and their ‘goo-to-go’ slime vending machine.

It will also offer a range of exciting activities and experiences for kids of all ages, including two summer slime workshops, ‘Tropical Blast’ and ‘Ice Cream Dream’ which will take place every day until 3rd September, with guests able to book the 1-hour sessions online.

The store will also be hosting birthday parties, school science workshops, drop-in slime-making sessions and live slime-making demonstrations by expert slime creators. As part of the Soapbox Challenge, Gootopia will also see their brand promoted on the iconic Piccadilly Lights in London, where 100 million people pass through every year.

Pieter Strömbeck, centre director at Southside Shopping Centre, said: “We’re excited to be welcoming Gootopia to Southside Shopping Centre this August. Their interactive workshops are a perfect way to keep the kids entertained during the summer, and a completely unique experience that’s inclusive and accessible to everyone.

“The Soapbox Challenge is a fantastic initiative providing up-and-coming businesses an opportunity to enhance their brand within a busy retail setting. We’re proud to be able to give local independent brands like Gootopia the chance to shine, and we can’t wait to see kids getting stuck in creating their own slime sensations.”

Nishi Bowan Saville, co-founder of Gootopia, said: “Our children absolutely love slime, and their passion is our passion, which led us to launching Gootopia. We’re thrilled to have won the Soapbox Challenge at Southside Shopping Centre and be able to expand our offering to another London location.

“The Gootopia pop-up will stock both ready-made slime, as well as all the ingredients and activators for families to make at home it will be a space where children of all ages can come to explore and create with slime. We love giving kids an experience where they get the opportunity to create something they can be proud of, without worrying about making a mess.”
