Hull City have launched a pop-up museum in the city centre as part of the club’s 120 year celebrations.
The Grade II-listed Central Library in Albion Street is displaying a collection of fascinating artefacts and unique items of Hull City memorabilia until June next year.
The Tigers’ treasure trove is open free of charge from today (27 November) after it was opened earlier this week by club legends Nick Barmby, Dean Windass and John Hawley joined supporters, and members of the 120 Steering Group, at an exclusive launch event.
Supporters can trace the tale of the Tigers through the array of vintage kits, boots, trophies, newspapers and programmes in the exhibition room, adorned with artwork charting 120 years of history.
As well as celebrating the 11 members of the Hull City Hall of Fame, the exhibition features the club’s former grounds, including the demolished Boothferry Park, and the moments, milestones and people that have shaped the club.
Joe Clutterbrook, City’s chief operating officer, said: “We are excited to launch our pop-up museum exhibition and I would like to thank everyone involved in piecing this important project together.
“There has been a desire to improve how we honour the club’s history, spearheaded not least by the Tigers Trust and the Senior Tigers in recent years, and this project is another example of that.
“Our dedicated team has worked tirelessly to bring the idea to life and we are extremely grateful to the 120 Steering Group for their contribution.
“We would also like to say a huge thank you to councillor Mike Ross, Hull City Council and Hull Central Library for allowing us to host our heritage exhibition in the heart of the city for supporters of all generations to enjoy.
“The wide variety of items on display are sure to bring back memories to fans who lived through those eras and educate younger supporters of our roots.
“The football club has been a cornerstone of the community for 120 years and the Tigers’ story is one worth sharing and celebrating to the fullest degree.”
