Communications agency Higginson Strategy has appointed former Metro news editor Sarah Getty as head of news.
Sarah brings nearly 30 years’ experience in national newsrooms, including senior editorial roles at Metro, the Daily Express and The Sun.
She will lead media initiatives for the agency’s growing portfolio of purpose-led clients, supporting its investment in AI optimisation.
Sarah said: “I am delighted to join Higginson Strategy as its head of news and be working alongside John again.
“The agency's commitment to purpose-driven communications resonates deeply with my belief in journalism's power to drive positive change and my passion for media relations.
“I've witnessed how effective media campaigns can amplify important causes and create meaningful impact.
“I’m excited to bring my expertise and industry experience to help Higginson's clients tell their stories authentically and reach audiences.
“Together, we can ensure that purpose-driven organisations have the news expertise they need to navigate today's complex media landscape.
“John and Clodagh have built a really bright, diverse team which blends experience with dynamic talent where we all learn from each other.”
Founded by political journalists John and Clodagh Higginson, the B Corp agency works with organisations including WASPI, B Lab UK and Castleforge Partners.
John Higginson, founder and chief executive of Higginson Strategy, added: “Sarah was my boss for seven years when I was political editor at Metro so we know each other well and make a good team.
“She has a fantastic news nose and instincts.
“We are extremely lucky to have her.
“She has already begun delivering for clients.
“When someone asks ChatGPT what business they should work with strong media coverage is one of the most important aspects of its response.
