A North East awards ceremony is set to return this autumn to celebrate innovation and excellence in the region’s booming tech sector.

Taya Reynolds, chief technology officer at Hays Travel, has been named as the head judge for this year’s awards and will be joined by a panel of industry experts.

She said: “It’s an absolute honour to be part of the judging team for Dynamites 25.

“I am extremely proud to call the North East home and have witnessed first-hand how much the tech sector has grown and continues to flourish.

“The region is brimming with brilliant people and businesses driving global impact, and the Dynamites are a fantastic opportunity to highlight the brilliance from Berwick all the way down to Barnard Castle.

“I’m thrilled to be representing Hays Travel on the panel and would encourage anyone working in technology to submit their nominations and join us on the night for what should be a fantastic evening for all involved.”

Dr David Dunn, chief executive of Dynamo North East C.I.C., added: “The Dynamites are a fitting celebration of the best and brightest minds and businesses from across the region’s diverse tech sector.

“Every year we’re blown away by the innovation and ambition on show, and this year promises to be the best yet.

“We can’t wait to see the nominations roll in.”

The Dynamites have recognised more than 150 companies and individuals since launching in 2014, attracting over 4000 attendees in that time and receiving over 1000 nominations.

Fay Cooper, chief product officer at Scrumconnect Consulting, was part of the Northumberland County Council team that won the Best Use of Data award last year.

She added: “One of the absolute highlights of my year was being part of the Northumberland County Council team that won Best Use of Data.

“As a product leader, being recognised by peers across the industry meant the world, not just to me, but to our whole organisation.

From the chief executive to the canteen staff, a wave of celebration and pride swept through the building for weeks.

“It was the lift we all needed.

“We don’t do this work for awards, but when you’re standing on that stage, holding what looks like a stick of dynamite, it feels like gold dust.

“It reminded everyone that their efforts are seen, valued, and that what they do truly matters.”

Tickets are now on sale, with discounted rates available for Dynamo North East members.
