UMi drives growth with nationwide job boost

A business support firm is set to expand and create new jobs across the country.

UMi, a certified B Corp and employee-owned business support and funding provider, is recruiting more than a dozen new roles as it rolls out a range of services nationwide.

The County-Durham based firm is seeking talent in the North East and Yorkshire, as well as Glasgow, the North West, West Midlands and the South East.

Bosses say the recruitment drive supports the expansion of UMi’s Get Funding service, a comprehensive resource for businesses seeking financial support, alongside new programmes aimed at helping firms embrace digital technologies.

They add that open roles include business funding executives, funding advisers, and business advisers specialising in digital transformation, all full-time positions within one of the UK’s most progressive, employee-owned enterprises.

Nicki Clark OBE, chief executive of UMi, said: “We are pleased to be hiring across our business as we continue to increase our UK footprint.

“As the need for tailored funding solutions and digital technology adoption rises among businesses, we look forward to leveraging our expertise to make a real difference in this sector.

“To maintain our high standards of quality and responsiveness, and to continue supporting innovation and business growth nationwide, we are on the lookout for skilled business advisers, funding experts, and executives to join our team.

“It is a really exciting period for UMi, so if you are passionate about funding and business support, we would encourage you to connect with us and find out more.

“It may be the ideal next step for your career.”

Since 2007, UMi has helped businesses access more than £325 million in grants and loans, attracting over £640 million in private sector capital via its programmes.

Its growth comes amid a wider decline in UK hiring sentiment, with ManpowerGroup predicting employer recruitment to fall to a new low in late 2025.

Research from the British Business Bank highlights that 60 per cent of SMEs struggle to secure appropriate funding, often due to lack of awareness or difficulty navigating options.

Nicki added: “Since launching Get Funding earlier this year, we have enabled hundreds of businesses nationwide to navigate funding challenges, providing expert guidance and bespoke one-to-one support.

“This holistic approach to providing funding aligns commercial finance, grants, and investment expertise with each client’s requirements, allowing for informed decision-making and tailored funding solutions for each and every business.

“Our investment in building our physical presence across key regions of the UK will allow us to better serve businesses accessing our services.

“As our team grows and our reputation spreads, we anticipate an increase in the number of businesses benefitting from our financial support over the coming year.”
