A Taste of Redcar and Cleveland returns
A Taste of Redcar and Cleveland will return from 5 to 16 November, offering residents and visitors exclusive food and drink deals across the borough.
The campaign, created to drive footfall during typically quieter weeks, aims to encourage local spending and highlight the wide variety of hospitality businesses in the area.
Bars, cafés, pubs, restaurants, bistros and hotels are all eligible to take part, provided they offer at least one special deal or discount within set price points of £5, £10, £15, £20, £25, and £30+.
Examples could include a coffee and cake for £5, a three-course meal for £25, or two-for-one cocktails, with the flexibility for venues to tailor their own offers.
As well as boosting customer numbers, participating businesses will benefit from free exposure through the Enjoy Redcar and Cleveland tourism platform, social media promotion and inclusion in campaign marketing materials.
The initiative is designed not only to increase trade during the campaign but also to encourage repeat visits and long-term loyalty.
Organisers hope the two-week celebration will showcase the borough’s diverse food and drink scene while delivering tangible benefits for local businesses.
Councillor Carrie Richardson, cabinet member for climate and culture at Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, said: “Redcar and Cleveland is home to a fantastic range of independent food and drink venues, and this campaign is a brilliant way to shine a spotlight on them.
“A Taste of Redcar and Cleveland not only supports our local economy but also encourages people to explore and enjoy what’s on their doorstep.
“It’s a celebration of local flavour, creativity, and community spirit and I’d encourage all eligible businesses to get involved.”
Antony Wright, co-owner of Base Pizzeria and Bar, one of the participating businesses, added: “We want to highlight that whilst we do offer a fantastic selection of pizzas, we also have a great range of small plate dishes which you can mix and match to create a meal.
“All dishes are made to order and everything is made in-house.
“Participating in a Taste of Redcar gives us the opportunity to showcase our full menu with deals on both small plates and pizzas.
“Like lots of businesses, November is a quieter time for trading.
“We hope joining A Taste of Redcar and Cleveland will also increase our footfall during this month.
“We’ll celebrate three years since we opened on November 4, just before the start of A Taste of Redcar and Cleveland, so we’ll plan something special on that day too.
“My business partner and I have a shared love of pizza and when the opportunity arose to acquire 125 High Street, Marske, we took on the challenge of creating a restaurant and bar that provides quality food and an extensive range of beers and cocktails in a comfortable and relaxed setting.”
