Robson Laidler expands trainee intake
Independent accountancy firm Robson Laidler has welcomed eight new trainees across its Newcastle, Durham and Teesside offices.
The trainees – Nevaeh Barnes, Zara Grand, William Grundy, Ethan Haslem, Darcy O’Neil, Harry Petterson, Anya Russell and Molly Williams – will work across audit, healthcare accounting, business accounts, business advisory and tax while studying for AAT or ACA qualifications through the firm’s training academy in partnership with Kaplan UK.
Nevaeh said: “After attending the RL open evening, I realised apprenticeships are such a great option – you gain real experience, get qualified, and avoid the burden of university fees and student debt.
“The support here at RL has been amazing, and I already feel like I’m part of a team that genuinely wants me to succeed.”
The appointments bring Robson Laidler’s total staff to 131, with 42 training towards professional qualifications.
Associate director Georgina Rutter, who started her career as an apprentice herself, is now a mentor to the new apprentices.
She said: “The RL training academy gives apprentices hands-on experience across our different departments, to help them discover where they thrive best.
“We’ve always placed great value on bringing apprentices and graduates into the business, and many have gone on to build long-term careers with Robson Laidler.
“I’m really looking forward to working with this year’s group – there’s a strong sense of teamwork, and everyone’s keen to support and learn from one another.”
The firm recently won Independent Firm of the Year at the North East Accountancy Awards and has been listed in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work for two consecutive years.
Amy Park, Robson Laidler co-managing director, said: “We’re proud to be supporting local young people as they take their first steps into the working world, and it’s been great to see how last year’s apprentices are growing through our training academy.
“We are investing heavily in the future of our business and the profession in our region.”
