Approval secured for 40-home Sheffield scheme
A property developer has been granted approval to convert a Sheffield office building into homes.
Glenbrook Investments has secured permitted development rights to convert Commercial House, a white stone-clad office building on the edge of Sheffield’s Castlegate district, into 40 modern apartments.
The scheme will feature a mix of one, two, and three-bedroom units across five storeys, with associated amenities.
Commercial House, previously home to Knights Solicitors and originally a Barclays Bank branch, occupies a gateway location close to Ponds Forge International Sports Centre and Sheffield Hallam University’s campus.
The building is within easy walking distance of the city’s retail core and forms part of the wider Castlegate masterplan, which is driving cultural and commercial development in the area.
Scott Griffiths, investment director at Glenbrook, said: “Securing consent at Commercial House marks an important milestone in our strategy.
“The scheme’s location is undergoing significant investment and combined with the city’s wider regeneration plans, makes this a compelling residential opportunity for both investors and future residents.
“We have received strong developer interest following approval and are subsequently weighing up whether to bring the scheme forward or agree a sale to a developer.”
