Newcastle brewery scores with Shearer’s pint

A North East brewery is joining forces with a local hero to make a difference, one pint at a time.

Anarchy Brew Co. has partnered with Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer to launch Shearer’s Foundation Brew, a 4.2 per cent pale ale brewed to raise funds for the Alan Shearer Foundation.

For every pint and can sold, a donation will go towards the Alan Shearer Centre in Newcastle, which provides free sensory, leisure and therapy spaces for disabled people and their families across the region.

Inspired by Shearer’s “Raise Your Hand to Help” campaign – a nod to his trademark goal celebration – the initiative offers an easy and enjoyable way for supporters to back a local cause, whether at the pub or from home.

Former England and Newcastle captain Shearer, the Premier League’s all-time record goalscorer, said: “The people of the North East never fail to amaze me with their generosity and creativity.

“This partnership is fantastic because it gives everyone the chance to support the Foundation by just by enjoying a pint.

“Every penny raised goes straight back to the Centre and helps local families who rely on it.”

“Working with Anarchy Brew Co., another North East business that shares our values, means we’ve created something genuinely special.

“It’s local, it’s fun, and it’s making a real difference.”

Initially available exclusively at Fenwick Newcastle, the beer has already scored with fans, prompting a wider North East rollout from October 27.

It will be served at popular venues including The Strawberry and Shark Bar in Newcastle, The Blackbird in Ponteland, Enjoy Beer in Morpeth, and the Northumberland Arms in Felton, as well as online through Anarchy Brew Co.

Brewed in Heaton, Shearer’s Foundation Brew is a light and refreshing pale ale with subtle hints of citrus and cucumber – crafted to celebrate community, good taste and the power of raising a hand to help.

Stuart Young, director at Anarchy Brew Co., added: “Alan was talking about the incredible work the Centre does and the challenge of raising the money needed every year

“I thought, there must be something we can do.

“Brewing is what we know best, so we set out to create Shearer’s Beer.

For us, it’s not just a name on a can, it’s a pint that helps keep a vital service running for local families.”

Matt Bowmaker, from the Alan Shearer Foundation, added: “Partnerships like this mean so much to us.

“Shearer’s Foundation Brew shows the power of commercial partnerships and how local businesses can work together to make a real difference.

"Every pint and can sold directly supports families who rely on the Centre, and that kind of support is invaluable.

“We love collaborating with North East brands who share our values and commitment to helping our community.”
