Søstrene Grene brings hygge to Metrocentre
A popular Danish lifestyle brand is expanding its UK presence with a new store in Gateshead.
Søstrene Grene, known for its affordable homewares, stylish décor and everyday essentials, is set to open at Metrocentre, offering shoppers kitchenware, soft furnishings, gifts and more.
The Gateshead store aims to bring the Danish concept of hygge to everyday living, creating a calm and inviting shopping environment.
The opening builds on Søstrene Grene’s growing presence in the North of England, following successful stores in Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, York and Sheffield.
Customers can expect a curated collection of Scandinavian-inspired products, seasonal finds, and lifestyle pieces, all presented in the brand’s signature ‘Retail for the Senses’ concept, featuring soft lighting, classical music and a winding store layout.
Mikkel Grene, chief executive and co-owner of Søstrene Grene, said: “We are thrilled to bring Søstrene Grene to Gateshead and share our affordable Scandinavian designs with even more communities across the UK.
“Each new store allows us to offer a shopping experience that combines creativity, practicality and a little inspiration for everyday living.
“Seeing our vision of accessible, beautifully designed products reach new regions is incredibly exciting.”
With more than 350 stores across 17 countries, Søstrene Grene continues its UK expansion, with plans for 100 new openings by 2027.
The Gateshead location will make the brand’s elegant, simple designs accessible to even more communities, catering to shoppers seeking affordable style for the home.
The official launch date at Metrocentre will be announced shortly.
Jonathan Cooper, country manager for the North of England at Søstrene Grene, added: “This has been a fantastic year for Søstrene Grene, with a series of successful store openings and now our first store in Gateshead.
“The Metrocentre location gives local shoppers the chance to explore our range of homewares, lifestyle and seasonal finds, all at accessible prices ahead of the festive season.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming both long-time fans and new customers to enjoy the relaxed and inviting shopping environment we’ve created.”
