Ashington businesses click with digital success
Businesses in Ashington have boosted their digital confidence after completing a programme designed to help them modernise, grow and compete online.
Delivered by Northumberland County Council and funded by the Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, with the North East Combined Authority as the lead authority, the Accelerate Ashington initiative has supported 73 digital transformation projects across the town, helping firms strengthen their online presence, engage new audiences and embrace digital innovation.
The programme included 24 website design and development projects, 44 digital marketing campaigns and five digital audits.
It also offered start-up support through a series of online and in-person workshops covering business planning, finance, marketing and sales.
From creative studios to manufacturers and professional service firms, a wide range of local enterprises have benefited from tailored guidance and practical digital tools.
The initiative aimed to help businesses adapt to changing customer expectations and take advantage of opportunities in the growing digital economy.
Programme manager Andrew Plant said: “Accelerate Ashington has been a fantastic engaging journey.
“Seeing the positive impact on local businesses has truly demonstrated the value of focused digital support.
“This programme leaves a legacy of innovation, growth, and digital confidence in our community.”
Local businesses have also shared their experiences and the difference the programme has made.
Jake Sansom from WA Management said: “This funding was the perfect opportunity to explore the feasibility of an area of marketing that we haven't previously engaged in.”
Marie Kyle from Northern Ice Blasting added: “The support is great, and the team are very knowledgeable.
“It helped us understand more about online presence and what works best for our business.”
